The value of scientific evidence should never be overlooked by the prudent investigator or by legal counsel. DNA testing is commonly used to help settle legal proceedings in both civil and criminal cases. Over the years the collection and analysis of DNA evidence has become highly refined. The procedures and equipment have been standardized. The courts recognize the significance of these developments and now expect DNA to be part of a complete investigation to prove paternity, adultery, murder, rape, and even accident reconstruction.

ISIS, INC. has built professional relationships with many of the leading DNA & Forensic associations in America. Our investigators are prepared to deliver a full range of legally admissible DNA testing and consulting services in support of civil and criminal investigations. This knowledge enables our investigators to look at your case through a more sophisticated perspective, one based on logic, science, and an in depth knowledge of investigative disciplines.

Here are 5 examples of how Human DNA & Forensics can change the outcome of a case.

Scenario 1 - (PATERNITY SUIT).
Mr. Smith, a wealthy public figure, is accused of being the paternal father of a 6 month old child and was ordered to pay $10,000.00 per month in support. Mr. Smith stated that he has never had sexual relations with the mother. DNA is taken from the mother, Mr. Smith, and the child. The DNA results proved that Mr. Smith is not the paternal father and the Support Order was reversed.

Scenario 2 – (THREATENING LETTER).
Mrs. Jones receives a letter containing serious threats against her family. She has been harassed by a male stalker at work and believes that he sent the letter. DNA is taken from the stamp on the envelope once licked by the sender. Next, a hair sample is obtained from the male subject. A DNA analysis of the 2 individual samples revealed a perfect match. The male subject is convicted for violating stalking laws.

Scenario 3 – (ADULTERY).
Mr. True is trying to verify that his wife is involved in an affair with another man. Mrs. True returns home at 2:00 AM from a night out on the town. Mr. True collects the underwear worn by Mrs. True on that evening and submits them for forensic testing. The serology results show a presence of male sperm. Mr. True has a case for adultery.

Scenario 4 – (WRONGFUL PROSECUTION).
Mr. Bond discovers a burglar in one of his rental properties. The burglar is startled and runs into the wall as he exits the house. He receives a deep gash to his forehead and falls to the ground, bleeding profusely. The police arrive and take the statement from the burglar. The burglar stated that he was struck in the head by Mr. Bond’s flashlight. Mr. Bond was arrested and his flashlight was confiscated as evidence. At trial, the prosecutor was prepared to proceed against Mr. Bond for assault. Mr. Bond contracted ISIS, INC. to reconstruct the crime scene and perform DNA collection and testing services. The investigator located human skin and hair embedded in the wall. These human samples were examined and matched the burglars DNA thereby showing that the burglar did strike the wall with his head. The police were unable to locate any blood or tissue on Mr. Bond's flashlight. All charges were dropped against Mr. Bond. One-third of the initial suspects are cleared before going to trial as a result of DNA analysis, thereby saving the taxpayers money, the court's time, and most significantly -- the innocent's freedom.

Scenario 5 - (POSITIVE DRUG TEST).
Mr. Strong, a senior member of the U.S. Military received a notice that his urinalysis contained traces of an illegal drug. Mr. Strong contracted ISIS, INC. to assist in his defense. He was absolutely steadfast in his statement of innocence. We collected hair samples from his scalp (enough to examine a 90 day history) and submitted them to the lab for scientific analysis. Mr. Strong was facing court-martial, loss of retirement and a 25 year career. The results revealed that the drug test performed by the DOD contractor was in error. The more sophisticated testing performed on the hair samples resulted in Mr. Strong being cleared of all charges and receiving the highest respect from his superiors for proving his innocence.

After examination of the 5 scenarios above we can establish that Human DNA & Forensics bring clarity and integrity to the investigative fact-finding process. The ideal scenario...when circumstantial evidence and speculation are superseded by irrefutable scientific evidence. Consultations are available by appointment.
